Not your typical chiropractic care!

Treating very similarly to our physiotherapists, we believe chiropractic care should not just mean getting an adjustment. Our quality chiropractors look at the big picture to address your pain and movement dysfunction. Chiropractic is an evidence-informed, non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors practice primarily using their hands, providing diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. After taking a history, performing an examination and establishing a diagnosis, a chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise and other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling.

A variety of chiropractic techniques are used including manual therapy and joint manipulation, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue & myofascial release, Functional Range Release®, specialized exercise programming, corrective and sport taping techniques, sport specific rehab and screening. Just like physiotherapy treatment sessions, other tools from our tool belt may be used including medical acupuncture or dry-needling.
Our Chiropractic care team focuses on restoring and maintaining the health of joints, muscles and nerve function.

If you’re suffering from aches, pains or strains, the time is right to arrange one on one hands-on chiropractic care with Cobblestone Medicine and Rehab. Our experienced chiropractors know how to get to the root of neuromusculoskeletal problems and administer the right treatment to relieve pain and restore normal function. Depending on the nature of your problem, this could take the form of manual adjustment, therapeutic exercises or even a personalized treatment plan that includes lifestyle and nutritional counselling.

Whether it’s neck pain, repetitive strain, a sports injury or a work-related ailment, our chiropractic services can help you enjoy a better health outcome — and you’ll find that our programs can be covered by extended healthcare plans, workers’ compensation plans, motor vehicle and other insurance plans. Chiropractic services can enhance your overall health and wellness, so contact us today to find out how we can help you overcome sore joints, back aches and other unwelcome pains.

You can expect our hands-on chiropractic care to:
Improve your posture and flexibility
Enhance movement in your neck, shoulders, back and torso

Custom-made foot orthotics designed to improve your foot function, alleviate pain, & help you stay active!

A custom-made foot orthotic is a device inserted into your shoe designed to align the foot and lower limb into a more efficient position and better manage load or forces. Excessive tissue forces can be altered allowing for injured tissues to heal and optimal function to be restored.
The body is connected in what is called a kinetic chain, therefore the way the feet function has implications on the rest of the body. The correct foot orthotic can act to improve function and relieve tissues of abnormal stresses, both in the foot and higher up in the kinetic chain.
Custom orthotics can act to accommodate foot deformities, treat overuse injuries, unload painful areas, improve balance, be a key component in the management of diabetic foot symptoms and be used for sport enhancement.

Conditions often treated by a Pedorthist:
Calf and Achilles tendon issues
Shin pain
Heel pain and/or plantar fasciitis
Metatarsal (forefoot) issues including Morton’s Neuroma
Bunions
Ankle Pain & reoccurring sprains
Arthritis
Shin Splints
Knee pain (including osteoarthritis and patellofemoral tracking dysfunction)
Hip and low back pain
General foot and ankle symptoms

What is a Pedorthist?
A Canadian Certified Pedorthist is an expert in designing, fitting and modifying custom-made foot orthotics. They consult with patients to determine a pedorthic treatment plan to best meet the patient’s needs.
Pedorthics is the science and practice of evaluating, fabricating and delivery of foot orthotics to prevent or improve painful or disabling conditions of the foot and lower limb caused by disease, congenital defect, overuse of injury.

Are orthotics covered by OHIP?
No, pedorthic services are not covered by OHIP. But most extended health care insurance plans cover orthotics or at least a portion of them. Check your plan!

Do I need a prescription?
Yes, your extended health care plan will require a prescription from your family physician in order to reimburse you for your orthotic claim.

How long does it take?
Your initial assessment is approximately 45-minutes in length. Your orthotics will be ready in 1-2 weeks. Your pick-up and any follow-up appointment are approximately 15-minutes.

What is the break-in period?
Your orthotics should be broken-in in intervals. Wear should be extended slowly over time. After 2-weeks you should be comfortable in your orthotics.
If an orthotic adjustment is required, there is no additional fee and it is usually done on site while you wait.

How often do orthotics need replacing?
A set of orthotics will last 1-4yrs depending on wear and tear; how much you are on your feet, weight, activity level, etc.

How often will I need to wear my orthotics?
The more you wear your orthotics the more benefit you get from them and the better off you will be. However times when you are on your feet and active are the most important times for orthotic support.

Specializing in foot and gait biomechanics. We can create custom foot braces including orthotics for sports injury and performance, workers injury and personal injury. We also provide custom foot care products as well.

Do you often feel dizzy or experience vertigo, motion intolerance, a persistent sense of imbalance, or unsteadiness? If so, there’s a chance you may have vestibular dysfunction. The good news is that these symptoms can be treated and you can regain your quality of life.

Vestibular dysfunction is more common than you may realize. A recent epidemiological study estimates that as many as 35% of adults over the age of 40 have experienced some form of vestibular dysfunction in their lives. Fortunately, most causes of dizziness can be detected through a comprehensive eye exam. It has been found that 85% of cases are due to inner ear disturbance (vestibular dysfunction) and can be treated using Vestibular Rehabilitation.

Neuro-rehabilitation therapy allows us to retrain your brain and eyes to regain functionality and quality of life for those suffering from visual problems due to vestibular rehabilitation. It works by using a variety of methods and techniques to get both eyes to work as a team and see visual space accurately. This form of therapy, known as neuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy, is an effective treatment for reducing or resolving symptoms associated with vestibular dysfunction.

If you have (or suspect you have) vestibular dysfunction and/or suffer from dizziness, unsteadiness or motion intolerance, talk to our team of specialized therapists. We can help!

If you’re suffering from chronic or acute pain — such as headaches, neck or back pain, nerve pain, arthritis or tendonitis — and you’re looking for alternatives to medication and surgery, acupuncture may be right for you. Treatment involves the use of extremely thin sterile needles to reduce or relieve pain. The needles are inserted into specific points on the body that have been shown to correspond with specific points in your body’s nervous system. The stimulation of these nervous system points can result in pain relief, general relaxation and restoration of the nervous system’s normal state.

Many people find acupuncture to be relaxing and experience minimal discomfort during treatment. This treatment is safe and effective and is often used successfully as an alternative to drugs.

Other techniques that she can incorporate into a treatment or use as a stand alone therapy include Manual Lymph Drainage, Reflexology, Thai massage, and Craniosacral.

In her free time, Nicole runs regularly, does yoga, pilates and receives massage. She believes that massage therapy is an excellent way to promote wellness and is essential for preventative healthcare. Previous work in an office provided Nicole with first hand experience how a seated posture can affect the body. About Me! I work collaboratively with my clients to help them manage life challenges, reach personal goals and improve overall quality of life. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for you to feel heard and supported. Together, at your pace, we will explore the impact that thoughts and emotions have on your behaviours and work to create new patterns that bring positive change and wellness back to your life. I follow an anti-oppressive approach, supporting clients with diverse needs and backgrounds. Our sessions focus on the client’s goals, strengths, developing coping strategies and fostering resilience. https://www.hyggecounselling.com/ Since graduating from the University of Toronto in 2011, I have supported clients with physical and mental health issues through counselling and referrals to relevant community agencies. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy. Everyone manages stress, change and setbacks in different ways. As our lives become busier than ever, it is my belief that everyone can benefit from slowing down, taking a breath, and speaking with an unbiased, non-judgemental ally. Our time together is intended for you to feel heard and supported while working towards achieving your wellness goals.
