Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care offers a wide range of benefits that can help improve your physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. Here are some of the key benefits of chiropractic care:
1. Pain reduction: Chiropractic care is known for its ability to reduce pain in the neck, back, and other areas of the body. By using manual manipulation techniques, chiropractors can help relieve pressure on the joints and nerves, which can alleviate pain and discomfort.
2. Improved mobility and flexibility: Chiropractic care can help improve your range of motion and flexibility, making it easier for you to move around and perform daily activities. This can be particularly beneficial for athletes and individuals who are looking to improve their performance.
3. Injury prevention: Regular chiropractic care can help prevent injuries by improving your posture, strengthening your muscles, and reducing your risk of developing joint and muscle problems.
4. Stress relief: Chiropractic care can help reduce stress and tension in the body, which can have a positive impact on your mental health and well-being.
5. Better sleep: Many patients report improved sleep quality after receiving chiropractic care, which can help them feel more rested and energized throughout the day.
Overall, chiropractic care is a safe, non-invasive, and effective way to improve your health and well-being. Whether you're dealing with pain, looking to improve your athletic performance, or simply looking to maintain optimal health, chiropractic care may be able to help.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of the soft tissues of the body (muscles, ligaments, and tendons). Therapeutic massage helps decrease pain by improving muscle and joint function. It also helps improve blood and lymph flow, which speeds healing and boosts the immune system. Registered massage therapy is an effective tool for treating and managing headaches, neck pain, whiplash, back pain, postural conditions, strains, sprains, stress and anxiety, and much more. Massage Therapy is a great addition to any Cobblestone treatment plan!
Manual Osteopath Practitioners
Osteopathy is a whole body approach to healthcare complimenting medicine which involves the moving, stretching and the massaging of the tissues and joints. This can reduce pain and promote healing of injuries while re-aligning and encouraging overall wellness of the body. Manual techniques can help treat many conditions from sprain and strains, arthritis, bursitis, migraines, sinus problems, TMJ and digestive symptoms like IBS or acid reflux. Osteopathic care is a great addition to any Cobblestone treatment plan!
Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist
Acupuncture is a highly valued method using the healing application of ultra-fine sterile, disposable needles to target particular points in the body with the aim of pain relief and correcting the flow of energy, bringing about a change in functions of the body, mind, and spirit. The World Health Organization (WHO) has credited acupuncture as a viable therapy to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions. By stimulating the natural healing response of the body and mind, the shift in energy flow in the body meridians generates an improved functioning of the muscles, organs and systems.
*There are many kinds of Acupuncture including Sports MSK Acupuncture, TCM Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Neuro-Stim Acupuncture, Auricular and Cosmetic Acupuncture to name but a few. Dr. A will assess your issue and recommend what will best fit your needs. Often several techniques are combined within a treatment.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used for thousands of years in China and has helped millions of people maintain wellness, balance and longevity. It is a natural form of treatment combining acupuncture, herbal medicine and tui'na therapeutic massage, which complements Western medicine. Herbal medicines come in a variety of forms such as dry and loose herbs, pills, powders, poultices, and tinctures. A safe and professional environment, using sterilized and disposable needles, with every treatment, ensures clean needle technique with the utmost care. During your first visit, a full medical history is taken, followed by the appropriate treatment plan, integrating TCM and other healing modalities. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a system that includes MSK conditions and the internal organs by way of meridians and channels balancing the immune system and flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee). It reduces stress and works on the body, mind, and spirit. TCM Acupuncture maintains and balances health, and relieves pain (physical, emotional, and psycho-spiritual).
Speech Language Pathology and Cognitive Communication
When most people think about speech-language pathologists (S-LPs) they probably think of someone who helps people who stutter or have a lisp. While it’s true that they do help with those issues, their scope of practice is a whole lot broader.
Speech-language pathologists are highly-educated professionals who have a minimum of a master’s degree in their field. As in any health-care related profession, SLPs are required to study anatomy and physiology, but they also study neuroanatomy, genetics, human and language development, linguistics, psychology, acoustics and more, which is why they are qualified to evaluate, diagnose (restricted in some provinces/territories) and treat a broad range of delays and disorders.
Speech-language pathologists can help with:
-Speech delays and disorders including articulation, phonology and motor speech disorders.
-Language delays and disorders, including expression and comprehension in oral and non-verbal contexts
-Fluency disorders, including stuttering.
-Voice and resonance disorders.
-Swallowing and feeding disorders in adults, children and infants.
-Cognitive-communicative disorders including social communication skills, reasoning, problem solving and executive functions.
-Pre-literacy and literacy skills including phonological awareness, decoding, reading comprehension and writing.
-Communication and swallowing disorders related to other issues. For example, hearing impairments, traumatic brain injury, dementia, developmental, intellectual or genetic disorders and neurological impairments.
Athletic Therapy
The goals of Athletic Therapy include preventing and managing musculoskeletal injuries, promoting physical fitness and conditioning, facilitating a safe return to sport or activity after injury, and educating individuals on injury prevention and management techniques. Athletic Therapists use a variety of techniques, including manual therapy, modalities, exercise prescription, and taping/bracing to help clients achieve these goals.

Concussion Management and Rehab
Our Primary Healthcare Providers will conduct a thorough post-injury evaluation in order to gain a complete picture of your injury and how it’s impacted you. This includes a detailed interview in order to obtain information on:
How the injury occurred
How you felt immediately after
How you’re feeling currently
History of previous concussions
Current and past medical conditions
Previous trauma/injury
Medications
The physical examination provides us with insight into the severity of your injury, as well as specific impairments that may need to be addressed as part of an ongoing management strategy. This portion of testing may include a combination of the following:
Balance testing
Strength and Coordination testing
Screening of visual motor skills
Vestibular (or equilibrium) testing
Gait assessment
Generalized neurological screen
Orthopedic assessment of secondary injuries (e.g. neck, shoulders)
Exercise tolerance testing (when indicated)
The duration of your assessment will be 1.5 hours in length.
The above testing procedures may not all be completed on the first visit. The assessment methods used are tailored to the immediate needs of the individual and each Healthcare Provider uses his/her discretion on a case-by-case basis.
Vestibular (Balance/Vertigo/Dizziness) Therapy
Do you often feel dizzy or experience vertigo, motion intolerance, a persistent sense of imbalance, or unsteadiness? If so, there’s a chance you may have vestibular dysfunction. The good news is that these symptoms can be treated and you can regain your quality of life.
Vestibular dysfunction is more common than you may realize. A recent epidemiological study estimates that as many as 35% of adults over the age of 40 have experienced some form of vestibular dysfunction in their lives. Fortunately, most causes of dizziness can be detected through a comprehensive eye exam. It has been found that 85% of cases are due to inner ear disturbance (vestibular dysfunction) and can be treated using Vestibular Rehabilitation.
Neuro-rehabilitation therapy allows us to retrain your brain and eyes to regain functionality and quality of life for those suffering from visual problems due to vestibular rehabilitation. It works by using a variety of methods and techniques to get both eyes to work as a team and see visual space accurately. This form of therapy, known as neuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy, is an effective treatment for reducing or resolving symptoms associated with vestibular dysfunction.
If you have (or suspect you have) vestibular dysfunction and/or suffer from dizziness, unsteadiness or motion intolerance, talk to our team of specialized therapists. We can help!
Running Analysis and Performance Program
Are you ready to take your running game to the next level?
Welcome to Cobblestone Running Analysis and Performance Program!
Running is a skill, just like any other sport, with important aspects to learn in order to stay injury free and perform at your best. Luckily, training for injury prevention and increasing performance are the same thing. There are many complex aspects of running that come together for one amazing experience. However, the large majority of runners experience at least one injury per year, which can be incredibly frustrating. One of the most important aspects in order to see improvements with running performance is the ability to stack training season over season, and year over year. Therefore, any time lost to injury takes you further away from reaching your full potential. Here at Cobblestone, we wanted to provide you with a solution to this problem, which is why we created the Running Analysis and Performance Program. It is our goal to arm you with the knowledge and skills to reach your full potential, whether that be completing a 5 kilometer run or racing a high-performance marathon, and everything in between.
Assessment
All of our assessments are one-on-one, utilizing an individualized approach based on your current needs. A running assessment will include: video-recorded gait analysis, introduction to form drills, an overview of your current running program, and identification of your strengths and weaknesses. Together, we will develop a treatment plan for injury prevention and performance which may include drills, strength training, adjustments to training plans, and/or adjustments to running technique.
Book now with Tanis Bolton, Physiotherapy Resident and sub-elite runner with 15 years experience including: varsity cross country, varsity track and field, road racing (5km-marathon), and ultramarathons!

Titleist Golf Performance Institute (TPI) and Swing Analysis Program
TPI is the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.
Since its inception in 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional Tour players to weekend enthusiasts. An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.
TPI’s mission is to educate golfers and industry professionals on the Body-Swing Connection™ through its one of a kind ‘TPI Certified’ educational program.
Bioflex Laser Therapy
What is Laser Therapy?
Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT) is the use of light from a Low Intensity Laser Diode or an array of Superluminous Diodes to eliminate pain, accelerate healing and decrease inflammation.
Laser Therapy does not heat or cut tissue, unlike high intensity lasers. Many pharmacological treatments mask pain or only address the symptoms of the disease, Laser Therapy treats the underlying condition or pathology to promote healing. This means that the treatments are effective and the benefits of Laser Therapy are long lasting.
Laser Therapy can be used to treat a broad range of medical conditions, including musculoskeletal problems, arthritis, sports injuries, wounds, chronic and degenerative conditions, and dermatological problems. Please hit this link for the comprehensive list of conditions treated with laser: Conditions treated with LLLT
Shockwave Therapy
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a specialized form of treatment designed to improve the health of a tissue by delivering high intensity bursts of mechanical energy.
This energy shock is not electrical, but rather a rapid high frequency vibration in the form of a Radial Pressure Wave (RPW).
When appropriately applied, Shockwave can increase local blood flow, improve healing response, break apart scar tissue and adhesions, reduce muscle spasm, and directly decrease pain. Most patients tolerate the treatments well, and report only mild discomfort.

Occupational Therapy
A day in the life of an occupational therapist:
An occupational therapist will try to find out why a client cannot do what they would like or need to do. An OT may check:
Your physical abilities like strength, balance and coordination
Your mental abilities like memory, coping strategies, organizational skills
What materials or devices you use to participate in activities like furniture, utensils, tools or clothes
What social and emotional support is available to you at home, school, work or in the community, and
The physical setup of your house, classroom, workplace or other environment
Depending on what the problem is, the occupational therapist can help you solve it by:
1. Helping you overcome your disability. OTs do this by:
Educating or instructing you on how to do things with the abilities you have – e.g. getting around your community in a wheelchair
suggesting activities that will help you improve or maintain the abilities you have – e.g. improving your coping strategies
2. Adapting the materials you use. OTs do this by changing the things you use:
Around the house – e.g. a special key holder to make turning keys easier
In sports or leisure activities – e.g. a playing cards holder
At work or school – e.g. special tools that help prevent injury to hands and back
To take care of yourself – e.g. special bath or toilet seats
To get from place to place – e.g. car modifications such as one-handed steering wheels
3. Recommending changes to the environments where you do your everyday activities. OTs do this by recommending that you:
change the physical layout of your workplace, home or school – e.g. lowering/raising desk tops, countertops or cupboards
find out about the supports in your community – e.g. specialized public transportation
work with the people in your community – e.g. providing education about a disability to the teacher or employer
work with the government to encourage health living – e.g. request funding for special equipment
Through client-centred care, occupational therapists not only help overcome barriers but help prevent:
Unecessary hospital stays and readmissions, premature moves to a nursing home, work injuries due to poor work station positioning and other organizational strains, school dropouts due to poor attention spans or reading and writing difficulties, unemployment among people with a developmental disability or a mental illness
How are occupational therapy services paid for?
Workers compensation claims may involve a referral to occupational therapy services if you have a work-related illness or injury.
If you have an illness or injury from a motor vehicle accident, occupational therapy services may be covered under your auto insurance plan.
Long term disability insurance programs may cover occupational therapy services.
If you are a Canadian armed forces veteran, the Department of Veteran Affairs may cover occupational therapy services.
When occupational therapy services are not funded by your employee benefit plan or by provincial insurance coverage, there are occupational therapists working in private practice who offer competitive rates.
